New and Used Ford Expedition: Prices, Photos, Reviews, Specs

This preview of the 2024 Expedition will be updated when official photos, specs, features, and prices are made available.

The 2024 Expedition is the biggest Ford SUV, a three-row vehicle available in long and even longer configurations. Shop it against the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, plus the Toyota Sequoia.

Though beginning to show its age against fresh-faced rivals, the 2024 Expedition lineup excels for its good ride quality, its strong (if thirsty) turbocharged V-6, and its broad lineup. We’ll assign a score once we’ve confirmed the latest specs. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

Available in two lengths (the bigger one is called Expedition Max), this large SUV carries over its 2022 refresh. The standard version stretches a garage-busting 210 inches from bumper to bumper, while the Max adds another foot that may relegate it to your driveway.

Its front end features a grille that extends chrome (or dark, on some trims) lines into busy LED headlights. It’s more traditional from the side, with a boxy appearance that could have come straight out of the 1990s. That’s no slight, though, as the Expedition is a decidedly old-school concept with plenty of modern tech in its cabin. The optional 15.0-inch touchscreen is mounted high on a stylish dash where it manages to look merely “big” and not “enormous.”

Ford offers its 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 in two states of tune: 380 hp for less-costly Expeditions and a hearty 440 hp as you work your way up the lineup. Power vaults to the rear or all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox that can occasionally stumble through low-speed gear changes and highway-passing downshifts. Good ride quality comes courtesy the fully independent suspension. While too big for real off-road use, the Expedition can be had in a stylish and slightly more capable Timberline version, too. The Expedition Max can lug up to 9,300 pounds of trailer when properly equipped. It won’t out-haul a big pickup, but it bests any crossover or minivan.

Inside, the Expedition features plush seats with good room in the front and middle rows. The rearmost bench is best for kids or teens, though the longer Max version offers up stretch-out space paired with a low-to-the-ground bench. Cargo space can top 120 cubic feet in the longest version with rows two and three tucked away. The high liftover height is typical for a large SUV, but a power-folding third row is widely available to make large-item loading easier.

The Expedition has done well in what crash testing has been performed. All models are well-equipped with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, and active lane control, while Ford’s BlueCruise limited hands-off system is available.

How much does the 2024 Ford Expedition cost?

Expect the 2024 Expedition to top $56,000 to start, with a moderately-equipped XLT with four-wheel drive checking in somewhere around $70,000.

Where is the 2024 Ford Expedition made?

In Louisville, Kentucky.
