The latest car from GMA will weigh 2,443 lbs and feature a 3.9-liter V12

Gordon Murray Automotive unveiled the T.33 last year and it’s about to be joined by an all-new Spider variant.

Set to debut on April 4^th, the T.33 Spider will follow in the footsteps of the coupe but adopt a targa-like design. It’s not exactly clear how the roof will work or what material it will use, but the sketch suggests it will simply slide back.

The roof isn’t the only change as we can see a revised greenhouse and an updated B-pillar. There also appears to be a vertical fin on the rear deck lid, although it’s hard to be certain at this point.

Gordon Murray said “From the outset of the T.33 program, I always intended there to be a Spider – in fact, I sketched the Spider before the coupe to ensure the proportions worked.” He added, “From that first sketch I knew, with its open cockpit and the incredible Cosworth GMA.2 V12 engine right behind you, the T.33 Spider would deliver a truly involving driving experience that’s quite unlike anything else.”

We’ll learn full details next week, but the teaser reveals the model weighs 2,443 lbs (1,108 kg) which is only 40 lbs (18 kg) more than the coupe. The T.33 Spider will also sport a mid-mounted 3.9-liter (3,994 cc) V12 engine, which should produce 609 hp (454 kW / 617 PS), rev to 11,100 rpm, and weigh a mere 392 lbs (178 kg).

There’s no word on pricing or availability at this point, but the T.33 coupe is limited to 100 units and they’ll go into production in 2024. As a result, T.33 Spider customers likely have a wait ahead of them.
