Production-Spec Bugatti Bolide Is Looking Absolutely Wild

Shortly after Bugatti teased the production-ready Bolide for the first time, it released two images that showcase the track-only vehicle in real life.

The French car manufacturer first showcased the Bolide to the world as an extreme concept in October 2020 and many had speculated it was so wild that it would never spawn a production variant. Bugatti proved these doubters wrong in August 2021 when it announced that the Bolide would be produced in limited numbers.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, Bugatti has been finalizing the design of the Chiron-based model and it has now entered the latest stage of development where it will undergo “strenuous and demanding dynamic testing and assessments.”

Bugatti has done a commendable job of largely retaining the concept’s design for the model that will be delivered to customers. This prototype is covered entirely in naked carbon fiber and you may notice that the front splitter has been redesigned and that a pair of aerodynamic canards are also featured. The brand’s designers have also crafted new front quarter panels for the car with louvers on either side. Bodywork behind the front wheels has also been altered.

We can also see that the tiny rear-facing cameras of the concept have been removed and instead, this prototype has traditional wing mirrors. Other elements from the concept to carry through to the production model include the massive roof scoop, shark fin, and that towering rear wing. An image showcasing the back of this carbon-clad prototype hasn’t been released but it looks largely the same as the concept and continues to rock a gargantuan diffuser and LED taillights.

Powering the production-spec model will be a tuned version of the Chiron’s 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine rated at 1,578 hp. The car will also tip the scales at just 1,450 kg (3,196 lbs), significantly less than any other current Bugatti model, and when combined with untold levels of downforce, the Bolide should be capable of some truly remarkable lap times.
