The redesigned BMW X2 continues to strip down ahead of its big debut later this year.
The latest sighting shows one of the mainstream variants and it’s smiling thanks to a V-shaped intake that flows into vertical air curtains. While the intake is massive, part of it is blocked off and just for show.
Putting the opening aside, we can see a wide grille that trades vertical bars for horizontal ones which are joined by diamond-shaped accents. We can also get a glimpse at sweptback headlights that echo those found on the X1.

While the two models have a lot in common, the X2 adopts a sportier crossover coupe design. This is most noticeable in profile as the model sports a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. Designers have also given the crossover a compact greenhouse, streamlined bodywork, and flush-mounted door handles.
The rear end on this variant isn’t particularly noteworthy, but it features an angular rear window and a pronounced spoiler. They’re joined by slender taillights and a hidden exhaust system.
Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, but previous pictures have shown the model will follow in the footsteps of the X1 and adopt a Curved Display, which likely consists of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch infotainment system. The similarities don’t end there as the dashboard, switchgear, and floating center console are also slated to carryover.

It’s not clear which engine powers this prototype, but we can expect an assortment of options shared with the X1 and iX1. Choices should include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 241 hp (180 kW / 244 PS) and 312 hp (233 kW / 316 PS).
The EV, on the other hand, will likely have a 64.7 kWh battery pack and a dual motor all-wheel drive system developing 309 hp (230 kW / 313 PS) and 364 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. This setup enables the iX1 to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.6 seconds, hit a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h), and have a WLTP range of between 259 and 273 miles (417-440 km).
