Motor mount replacement cost

Like most automotive repairs, motor mount replacement cost varies based on the engine design and whether the carmaker installed traditional rubber (elastomeric) mounts versus hydraulic, active or even magneto rheological mounts. In addition to the cost of the part, labor also varies, depending on how many mounts must be disconnected in order to raise the engine, and how many components must be disconnected in order to access the mount.

Rubber motor mount replacement cost

Traditional rubber motor mounts are the least costly, running from as low as $75 to a high of around $225 per mount. The cost varies quite a bit depending on whether the shop installs an aftermarket mount compared to an OEM mount. You may like the cost of an aftermarket mount, but in my experience, they simply don’t last as long as an OE mount. If you plan to keep the vehicle, my advice is to ask the shop to install and OE mount.

The labor to install a rubber mount is generally between 1 and 1.5 hours. At a national average shop rate of $140/hr, plan to spend about $400 to $550 to replace a motor mount.

Hydraulic motor mount replacement cost

Hydraulic mounts cost quite a bit more than rubber motor mounts. An hydraulic mount for a Honda Odyssey van, for example, costs upwards of $650 for the part alone. Labor to install that part takes a bit longer at 2.1 hours. So it’s not uncommon to pay almost $800 to $1,000 to replace an hydraulic motor mount.

Active vacuum or electronically controlled motor mount cost

Active mounts are found on a number of late model vehicles including Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Lexus, Toyota and others. Their costs varies by make and model but in many cases the replacement cost is comparable to hydraulic mounts, so, around $800 to $1,000 to replace an active motor mount.
