The Lincoln Nautilus was introduced for 2007 as the MKX. The midsize-class, five-seat SUV was essentially a gilded version of the Ford Edge. Lincoln phased out alphabetic names for all its models not called Navigator, with Nautilus coming online for 2019. In a first for the brand, the US-spec 2024 Nautilus will be built and exported from China, just like the rival Buick Envision and several Volvo models.

Speaking of the Envision, Lincoln’s designers must have used that vehicle as a template because from the front, it and the new Nautilus look remarkably similar. It will retain the model name on the front doors while the back end iterates on the previous generation’s look with a revised fascia.

Inside is where the 2024 Nautilus really stands out. The first thing you notice is the instrument panel, which is comprised of two 24-inch screens that stretch across the entire dashboard. A new flat-top steering wheel is designed to improve legibility of the screens, which can be customized to show a variety of information. A second, center-mounted display handles climate and infotainment duties, including support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In keeping with Lincoln’s new “sanctuary” product theming, Nautilus will be available with adjustable ambient interior lighting and “scent cartridges” that can spray a choice of aromas throughout the cabin.

Three new interior color “themes” will be available, including Black Onyx with Medium Light Space Gray; two-tone “Smoked Truffle”; and Black Onyx with Allura Blue. A new Jet Appearance Package adds two-tone exterior paint, gloss black wheels, and anodized black interior trim pieces. The Black Onyx Sport Package adds “Copper Code” aluminum trim and “Dusted Copper” accent stitching.

Conventional and gas/electric hybrid drivetrains will be available, each featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder internal combustion engine. Standard versions are expected to produce 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque and pair with an 8-speed automatic. Hybrid versions take the same engine and add a 100-kilowatt electric motor, bringing total horsepower up to 310. They use a continuously variable automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard across the board.

Nautilus will adopt Ford’s BlueCruise semi-autonomous driving tech with the ability to perform hands-free lane changes. Lincoln says the system has been overhauled to behave in a more natural fashion.

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus will start at $50,415 plus $1,395 manufacturer destination fee. The flagship Black Label grade will carry a base price of $74,465. Customers and dealers can place orders now, but initial deliveries are not expected until early 2024.

 CG Says:

While not particularly exciting to look at on the outside, the cabin of the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has us very interested. Hopefully all that available tech will draw in younger shoppers while still be easy enough for older clientele to operate. Stay tuned for our impressions once the vehicle is ready for media evaluation.
