The world has been waiting for the R36-generation Nissan GT-R for what seems like a lifetime. In fact, it has been nine long years since the first reports of the sports car morphing into a hybrid were published and yet here we are in 2023 with no R36 in sight.

While we may have to wait some time for the R36-generation GT-R to become a reality, designer Ulises Morales (who you may remember from his previous work on the sexy 2026 Acura NSX study) hasn’t let that stop him from envisioning it. And If it looks anything like this, we would be very happy.

In designing the car, Morales took inspiration from the latest generation of jet fighters but was still able to incorporate some elements that make the car recognizable as a Nissan. The front end is especially striking thanks to the presence of an LED light bar that curves its way across the car’s front fascia and looks like a smile. The front also sports a large splitter, aggressive air curtains, and colored accents around the air intakes.

These eye-catching details continue with the turn signals and cameras that jut out of the front quarter panels. The silver and black wheels also look the part.

The side profile of this futuristic GT-R is quite different than the R35 as there is a lower roof and slimmer side windows. The doors are particularly noteworthy for their aggressive shape and there is even a carbon fiber roof that can be removed, morphing the car into a Convertible much like the Chevy Corvette.

We’re particularly fond of the GT-R’s rear end where you will find a split wing, four taillights, a Formula 1-inspired rain light, and a diffuser made up of two prominent sections that flow aggressively into the rear quarter panels.
