12 Wild Rides at The 101st Pikes Peak Hill Climb

Lucy Block was marked on the sheet as a rookie in her first attempt at the mountain, but she’s more than familiar with the bravery needed to volunteer for such antics. Her drive celebrated the life of her husband, Ken Block, who died tragically earlier this year, and spread awareness for 43 Institute, a nonprofit to help widen opportunity for those looking to pursue a driving career. The Sierra Echo Block Edition powered by Hypercraft is an all-electric single-seat buggy. There are seven 300-hp Block Edition models for sale, with a portion of those sales going to 43 Institute. Lucy is joined by her daughter, Lia Block, who made a tribute pass up the mountain in honor of Ken in the 1400-hp all-wheel-drive Hoonipigasus Porsche 911 he drove at the 100th PPIHC, last year.

We chose Block’s Pikes Peak anthem: “Sure Shot” by Beastie Boys.

We chose Block’s Breakfast of Champions: Breakfast burrito.

Lucy Block’s Sierra Echo Block Edition powered by Hypercraft 101st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb result: 11:25.315.
